Medicaid Cremation Services
Due to Department of Human Services (DHS) strict spending limits on Medicaid recipients, the funeral home will only be able to assist families choosing to use Medicaid death benefits for cremation and memorial services. Only upon payment in full from the family and/or written verification from DHS of payment forthcoming, may a memorial service or cremation be scheduled. Medicaid funded memorial services cannot exceed $2,500.00. It is customary that DHS will pay up to $1,500 toward the cost of a funeral. The person who signs the funeral home contract is responsible for the difference between the benefit from Medicaid and the bill. The balance must be paid in full at the time of the arrangements and prior to any services being rendered.

The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected.
Services Available
Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff –
$1,525
This non-declinable fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains).
Forwarding Remains –
$1,825
Includes – Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff, transportation within 25-mile radius, embalming, necessary authorizations and filing death certificate. This price does NOT include body prep for viewing, dressing or casketing, shipping charges, or shipping container
Receiving Remains –
$1,525
Includes Basic services of the Funeral Director and Staff, transportation with 25-mile radius. This price does NOT include services, hearse, viewing, cemetery charges, casket, merchandise, etc.
Immediate or Natural Burial –
$3,250
This package includes the following: Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff; transportation from place of death to mortuary; Body prep for natural burial; local graveside service (within 25-mile radius); funeral hearse; graveside set-up (Springfield – weekday); Opening and closing of grave (Springfield – weekday); refrigeration
Direct Cremation (No Service) –
$2,350
If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiber board or composition materials, with or without an outside covering. The container we provide is the minimum required. This package includes: Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff; transportation from place of death to mortuary; cremation; transportation to/from crematorium; basic container for cremains

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial
