DeLynn Turner was born September 22, 1950, to Uel and Lelea Turner in Springfield, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jesse Ray Turner. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Georgia Turner, son, Uel Turner of Walsh, daughters, D’Ann (Geston) Hebberd of Campo, and Jamie (Stuart) Hutchison of Wheeless, Ok, 13 grandchildren, 2 15/16 great-grandchildren, sister, Jimmie Lee Eden, of Dalhart, brothers David (Royce) Turner of Aransas Pass, and Dwayne (Kristy) Turner, of Springfield, and a host of other family and friends.
DeLynn graduated from Campo High School and went on to attend college at Panhandle State where he met his “Sweet Thing,” Georgia. They were married on April 24, 1970. To this union, 3 children were born, Uel, D’Ann, and Jamie.
DeLynn started his farming career when he was a senior in high school. He planted his last crop in May of 2018. Over the years he expanded his business to include custom harvesting, trucking, grain marketing, and nearly anything else that would make a dime. Throughout his career, DeLynn employed a long list of people. He taught and mentored many people in the harvesting and trucking. Several men started their driving careers in his employ, and many fresh graduates from Campo learned to run a combine under his guidance.
During his down time, DeLynn also taught many people how to water ski, a tradition carried on by his kids and grandkids.
Family has and will always be the cornerstone of the company that DeLynn has built, whether that family is blood relation or the family built on comradery of the employees of DLT Harvesting and Hauling. Today DeLynn’s wife, all three of their children, and two of his grandchildren are employed in his business in some capacity.
DeLynn passed from this life on July 19 during a tragic work accident. He will be missed by all that have known him over the years.
