Treva Marlene (Weber) Haney, age 89, was born May 4th, 1932 in Lamar, Colorado to Ross Laverne and Nannie Bess (Burks) Weber. She passed away at her home with family by her side on January 22, 2022.
Treva grew up in the Pritchett- Kim area. She attended grade school at Shadel where she rode a horse to and from. She began High School in Kim and then moved to Pritchett High School. During her senior year, Treva along with 3 other classmates, each quit school to go get married, leaving
four seniors to graduate.
On December 31st, 1949, Treva and Loyd Grant Haney eloped and were married in Clayton, New Mexico. They began their life together in a dugout just west and south of the Baca/Las Animas County line.
Treva had lived within 3 miles of where Loyd lived and they had never met until she was in high school. The school bus broke down one day just south of Loyd’s house and Loyd took her home and the rest is history.
To this union, two children were born. Brenda Jo was born December, 17th, 1950 and Darrell Lee was born November 25th, 1951.
Loyd and Treva spent their lives working together as farmers and ranchers. They lived within 3 miles of where they each grew up.
Loyd and Treva’s pre-retirement hobby was raising miniature horses for several years. Treva was actively involved in a home demonstration club for several years. She was also involved in the local VFW Auxiliary in Springfield for many years. She was actively involved with their kids during their 4-H years. Loyd and Treva enjoyed two-step, jitterbug and square dancing. Their home burned down December 9th, 2012. They lived in the Doyle Winters home nearby for 2 years. They then moved to Emerald Gardens Retirement Community in La Junta, CO in 2014. Treva fell and broke her hip in December 2016. Loyd and Treva moved to Denver to live with family that December. In January 2017, Loyd passed away and Treva remained in Aurora to live with her son, where she lived until she passed away. Treva’s greatest enjoyment was entertaining her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Weber, her mother, Nannie Bess (Burks) Weber, one half-brother, James (Jim) Weber, sister-in-law, Violet Emilia (Chadwick) Weber, and son-in-law, Clifford Ray Van Campen. Treva is survived by her daughter, Brenda Jo Van Campen of Lamar, Colorado, son, Darrell Lee Haney of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren, Tanya Jo (Van Campen) Estep and husband Shane Estep of Lamar Colorado, Chad Van Campen of Mc Cook, NE, Brandi Dawn (Haney) Massie and husband Neal Massie of Aurora, CO, Whitni Shae (Haney) Baumgartner and husband, Brandon Baumgartner of Elizabeth, CO. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Kalen Smith of Greeley, CO, Kynslie and Haven Massie of Aurora, CO and Easton and Bella Baumgartner of Elizabeth, CO.
Celebration of life will be Saturday, January 29th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Minnick Building at the Baca County Fairgrounds. Lunch for family and friends will follow immediately at the Minnick Building. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Colorado.
