Tamara Sanchez

Tamara Ann Sanchez, 62 of Springfield, Colorado, passed away at Southeast Colorado Hospital on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Tamara, daughter of Warren and Charlene Schmidt, was born December 17, 1958, in Lamar, CO. She was married to Larry Sanchez on June 23, 1979, in Allenspark, CO. Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband, Larry, two daughters, Jessica Sanchez and family of Pueblo Colorado, Amanda Sanchez and family of Pueblo Colorado, and one son, Michael Sanchez of Westminster Colorado.

Tamara spent her life in Springfield, Colorado, graduating from Springfield High School in 1977 where she was active in FBLA, FCCLA, HS Pep Club, Science Club, SEEC (Students Exploring Educational Careers), STUCO, and NHS. Following graduation, she stayed in Springfield to work at Schmidt and Schmidt, Baca State Bank, Peoples Credit Union, and then the Springfield School District.

Tamara married Larry at Saint Catherine’s Chapel on the Rock (Saint Malo) located near to her family’s cabin near Allenspark, CO. This church served as Tamara’s home parish during part of the summers in her childhood. The cabin was a favorite vacation spot for Larry and Tamara over the years. Larry and the kids will continue to make memories at the cabin for many years to come.

Tamara worked at Springfield School for about 20 years. She worked at the High School as a secretary and then later the Elementary School. She enjoyed being able to be at the school with her kids and getting to know the students at Springfield School District.

Tamara found tremendous joy reading and working in her garden with Larry. She was very proud of her plants and flowers, especially her African violets.

She will be missed by her family and friends.

Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 A.M., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Buswell Hall behind the Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. The burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
