Steven Wayne Chenoweth

Steven Wayne Chenoweth was born November 2nd, 1951 in Lamar, Colorado to Derrel Wayne and Thelma Chenoweth.  Steve died July 1st, 2019 at the family home in Springfield, at the age of 67.  He was raised on the family ranch north of Pritchett with his younger brother Dave.  Steve graduated from Pritchett High School in 1970.  He attended Otero Junior College where he studied welding and drafting.  During this time he played basketball for OJC.  This is where he met his loving wife, Marilyn Marvin.  On November 26th, 1972 Steve and Marilyn were married at the First Methodist Church in Fowler, Colorado.  Together they had three children, Nicholas Aaron born in 1975, Brice Wayne in 1978 and Noelle Renee in 1982.  In 1982 Steve opened his own business, Baca Welding.  Many of his passions included serving as a member of the Baca County Fair board, an FFA advisor, and teaching many young adults lifelong skills.  Steve's special interests included raising cattle, sheep and Boer goats, and building his next business, Chenoweth Livestock.  Countless hours were spent with his children on their 4-H and FFA projects, which earned many awards and trophies for the family.  Through this journey began many lifelong friendships.  Some of his favorite times out and about were to watch his children and grandchildren play football, basketball, and volleyball.  Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Derrel and Thelma Chenoweth, brother Dave, and his father in laws, Tom Marvin and Roby Baker.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marilyn, sons Nick (Mikela), Brice (Brenna) and daughter, Noelle.  Grandchildren Hunter (Alexis), Braxton (Annie), Chloe, Shady, Jaidyn, Brock, Kason, Ryann, and CJ.  One great-grandson, Kaceton.  Also his mother in law, Dorothy Baker, sister and brother in laws, Judy and Wayne Jones, Jill and Sam Rogge, Marsha and Billy Reed, and Marilyn Sue Chenoweth, numerous nieces and nephews.
