Sandra “Sandi” Kay Greathouse was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Sandi always left laughter in her wake and was known for her wry humor, quick wit, strong opinions, care for animals, and earnest love for her family. Family and friends described her as a “firecracker”, and it seemed to be a collective opinion that Sandi was “one of a kind” and “quite the character.” She left this world peacefully on August 20th, 2023, at the age of 74, surrounded by her loved ones.

Sandi was born to James and Elsie Hargis on April 4th, 1949, in the home that she spent her childhood in. She loved to recount stories from this time and reminisce on memories of her childhood with her sister, Marsha, and brother, Jim.

In 1964, she married LeRoy Greathouse. Together they had two daughters: Gina and Gala. During this time, Sandi was a homemaker and also worked at Walsh hospital.

In 1974, Sandi moved to Pueblo. There, she met James “Oop” Johns. During the time before his death, Oop and Sandi enjoyed fishing together and shared a love for animals- especially cats. Sandi cared for many cats in her lifetime and was known to name them rather quirky names (Doo-da-baby, Tinky-buggy, and Silly Willy, to name a few.) She worked as a CNA at many different facilities throughout Pueblo and often hosted sleepovers with her grandchildren at her home. Sandi loved Pueblo, but she always looked forward to travelling to Springfield for family gatherings, where everyone would play card games together and laugh and joke the day away. She eventually moved back to Springfield, spending her final years at Springfield West, where she took pleasure in socializing with fellow Springfield locals and found a close friendship with Lois Stafford.

Sandi is survived by her siblings, Marsha(Don) Wright and Jim(Luz) Hargis, her children, Gina Caddick and Gala(Jodi) Hendricks, her grandchildren, Jason, Dustin, Harley (Vinnie Montez-Dasler), Hayden, and Hannah, her great grandchildren, Gage and Sawyer, and her many nieces and nephews.

Sandi loved all animals; especially cats and horses; in her memory please consider memorial contributions to your favorite animal rescue facility.
