Clyde Greer

Robert Clyde Greer passed on July 31st, 2025. He was born on March 13th, 1940 to Jack and Helen Greer and spent his early years in Rist Canyon, west of Fort Collins, Colorado. He later attended high school in Fort Collins while working for the Wagner family. Under their influence he went on to Colorado State University, because Mr. Wagner believed that Clyde could make something of himself. He met his wife, Carol McEndree, in 1962 and they married that fall. After graduating from CSU, Clyde pursued his Masters and Doctorate at the University of Minnesota. There they had their son, Cole, and their daughter, Caryn. The family then moved to Bozeman, Montana where he taught ag economics and economics at Montana State University for 25 years where he was also the department head multiple times. During his time at MSU he was recognized with many awards including the favorite teacher award multiple times. He spent many years in Bozeman spending time with their neighbors and colleagues who later became lifelong friends. He also donated his time to the local ski racing team, Bridger Ski Foundation. After retiring from MSU, Carol wouldn't allow him to just "sit at home" so he did multiple jobs, including driving semis and consulting for an ag research company. Once Carol retired, they returned full-time to Southeast Colorado to run a part of Carol's parents' ranch where he has spent the last 20 years implementing new ideas onto the land. Clyde touched many lives with his steadfast dry sense of humor and true loyalty. He was dearly loved and respected by all that met him, minus a few students.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his younger brother, Charlie. He is survived by his wife Carol Greer, his son Cole (Susan) Greer, daughter Caryn (Brad) Greer Jones, grandkids Alex (Gabe) Keisel, Ceely (Brit) Jones, Finn Greer, Jack Greer, Harper Greer, Pete Jones Jr, and great granddaughter Covey Keisel. As well as his sister, Marilyn Brown, his sister-in-law, Sue Greer, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on August 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Springfield Methodist Church located at 901 Colorado Street, Springfield, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at the Maxey Cemetery, County Road 11, Springfield, Colorado. Then followed by lunch at the Greer home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make a donation to the Pritchett, CO FFA or the Springfield, CO FFAs as well as the Baca County fair board, or a local charity of your choice, if you feel inclined.
