Patrick “Pat” Wayne Lacy went home to Heaven on January, 7th, 2020, at the age of 52.

He had a smile that spread from ear-to-ear and a contagious laugh that blessed everyone who knew him.

Pat was born on March, 17th, 1967, in Denver, Colorado. After having three girls, Wayne and Verva Lacy were overjoyed to welcome a boy into the family.

From an early age, Pat enjoyed being outdoors and exploring all of God’s creation. It was common for his mother to find rocks, insects, and other creatures in his pocket while doing laundry. Pat decided to keep one of these creatures, a bullfrog, that he named Jeremiah. It brought him great amusement to hide Jeremiah in his sisters’ rooms while they were gone.

Pat accepted Christ at the age of 8 and was baptized on January 25th, 1976, at First Baptist Church in Springfield, Colorado.

Pat was a proud Springfield Longhorn and graduated from Springfield High School in 1985. After high school, he moved to Florida to acquire the skills needed for working on airplanes. After 6 months of training, he moved to Broomfield, Colorado and worked at the Jefferson County Airport.

Pat took great pride in his work. Never was this truer than when working at Breckenridge Ski Resort, where he went above and beyond to take care of “his mountain”. He loved his job and it brought him immense joy to bring happiness to so many people. Because of Pat’s diligent work ethic, he was twice honored as employee of the month.

In January of 1999, Pat was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick disease. While this presented Pat with some limitations, he continued to do the work he loved for 5 more years.

After Pat was no longer able to work due to declining health, he found a new purpose in collecting cans throughout the town of Springfield. He pursued this endeavor with the same passion and dedication that he had on the mountain. His only problem was finding a trailer big enough to hold the reaps of his labor.

Pat’s love for the outdoors continued throughout his adult life. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, riding his bicycle, and water-skiing. Pat’s favorite color was camouflage green and his wardrobe reflected that.

He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Lacy, a brother-in-law, Tom Shumate, and a niece, Cassandra Shumate.

Pat is survived by his mother, Verva Ann Lacy, his sisters, Amy Kemper, Kristen Schmidt and husband Kent, Tino Rice and husband Michael, four nephews, four nieces, and many others that he loved as family.

As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to be given to the First Baptist Church, PO BOX 395, Springfield, CO 81073, or to Springfield West. 680 West 6 th Ave, Springfield, CO 81073.
