Melva Lee Fleck was born February 1, 1934, to Melvin and Pauline (Bryan) Fleck in Perryton, Texas.  She departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 13, 2018, in Great Bend, Kansas.

Melva grew up in Springfield, Colorado, with her parents and siblings, Donita and Jim.  She attended school in Springfield and graduated in 1952.  Melva pursued her degree in Elementary Education at Pueblo State College and Adams State College.  She married Jack Hill in 1953 and to this marriage were born three daughters, Sandi, Shari, and Staci.  Melva and her young family lived in Englewood, Colorado, where Melva taught third grade at Cherrelyn Elementary School for 20 years.  While teaching, she attained a Master’s of Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

After retiring from teaching, Melva married Fred Bodycomb and they moved to Springfield to live out their retirement.  There they built and made their home of 27 years until Fred passed away in 2017.

Melva loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother(G-Gma) to her family.  She loved spending time with her family.  Melva loved learning and one of her mottos was “never stop learning”.  She instilled that in all of her family and in all of her students, third graders and her adult Sunday school class at church.

Melva had a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ and her church family was an extension of her own family.  She grew up in Springfield United Methodist Church and returned there to serve in her retirement years.  Melva had an amazing gift of service and touched everyone she met. Her hands-on service spanned decades and included United Methodist Women, Sunday school teacher, church librarian, church lay-leader, church event planning, shawl ministry, and organizing Lions Club community events.

Melva is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, an infant brother, and husband, Fred.

Melva is survived by her daughters, Sandi Gonzales of Great Bend, KS; Shari Girard (Roger) of Cle Elum, WA; Staci Collins (Richard) of San Diego, CA;  Grandchildren: Krista Dunemn (Eric), Sarah Gonzales, Stephanie Gonzales, Kyle Briles, Matthew Starr; Great-grand children Ezra, Everett, and Emory Dunemn; Step-children: Jodi (Clark) Clingenpeel of Girdwood, Alaska;  Beth (Chris) Curran of Larkspur, Colorado; Dan (Crystelle) Bodycomb of Longmont, Colorado; Grandchildren Nicole Pintsch, Adrienne (Adrian) Ortiz, Marissa Clingenpeel, Cale Clingenpeel, Tori Bodycomb, Cory Curran, Bria Curran, Trey Curran, and Jaret Curran; and Great- grandchildren Carter Pintsch and Lazz Ortiz.  Melva is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law Helen Fleck, and numerous friends that were also her family.
