Listen to Obituary

Max Harold Grant died July 3, 2026 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado. He was 75.

Max was the fourth child of Lawrence H. Grant and Barbara J (Turner). He was born December 11, 1950 in Lamar, Colorado.

Max attended school in Springfield and was proud to graduate in 1969 as a 12 year student. While in high school, he played sousaphone in the band and was manager of various athletic teams. He went on to obtain his Associates Degree in 1971 from Lamar Junior College.

Max always loved trucks, so it was no surprise when he chose to drive one as his occupation. He drove over the road and then worked many years for BACA County Roads Dept. until his retirement.

Max was dedicated to one thing in his life, the Springfield Longhorns/Shorthorns. For over thirty years he was at every game, at every sport keeping the stats and supporting his team. He knew every player and took pride in their personal accomplishments.

Max was a master of storytelling. One would pop into his head two minutes into the conversation, which usually left a grin on everyone’s faces!

He is survived by his siblings: Mike (Colleen) of Chehalis, WA, Patty of Amarillo, TX, Penny of Scottsbluff, NE, and Bill (Darla) of Pueblo, CO and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Laura Jane) and nephew (JD).

Max attended the First Baptist Church in Springfield. He chose cremation and will be buried in the Springfield Cemetery.
