Margie Kathleen Lowe was born September 2, 1925 to Margurite Bosley and John T. Lowe in a two room dug-out near Edler, Colorado.

Margie peaceably went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 17, 2022 in Canon City, Colorado, at the age of 96.

Margie accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized at a young age.

Margie attended the Edler school through her junior year of high school. During her senior year, Margie lived with Agnes and Short Bishop and helped care for their children while attending and graduating from Walsh High School in 1944.

Margie married John Hicks in a double marriage ceremony that included her sister Myrtle and Kenneth Mason on June 1, 1946 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Margie and John made their home in Edler, Colorado and made their living farming the lands of southern Baca County

Margie was active in the Edler Community Church where she taught Sunday School. She also served as a 4-H leader for many years with the Edler Lucky Leaf 4-H Club. Margie was a lifelong member of the Edler Goodwill Quilting Club. She created and hand quilted beautiful quilts for many of her friends and family members for marriages, births of children, and other special occasions.

Margie and John had 4 children born from their union. Son Lowell Elden was the first child born, followed by daughter, Karla Jean, second son, Loran Lee, and third son, Leslie Monroe.

Margie and her family moved from Edler to Springfield, Colorado in 1968.

Margie worked at the Ideal Café along with Alice Homsher. Margie and Alice would remain friends for the remainder of Margie’s life, enjoying their time, service, and membership in the First Baptist Church and love of mutual family members.

Margie later worked for many years, until her retirement in 1989, at the Princess Lanes bowling alley. Margie never bowled a single game in all her years working at the bowling alley. After retiring, she joined a women’s bowling league and won the “Most Improved Bowler” trophy.

Margie spent her life as a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma. Margie moved her dad into her family house when he was no longer able to care for himself alone.

In 2016, at the age of 90, Margie had medical complications and became seriously ill which resulted in her moving from her lifelong home in Baca County to the Hildebrand Senior Care facility in Canon City, Colorado. She resided in Canon City where her son Loran lived until her death.

Margie was proceeded in her death by her parents, John and Margurite Lowe, her husband, John, Granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn (Alfrey) Collins, her two brothers, John E. and Roy T. Lowe, and her sister, Mrytle Mason Sullivan.
