Margarita (Margie) Costilla Olivas

Margarita Costilla Olivas, age 98, passed away on April 27, 2024 at the Southeast Colorado Hospital Long-Term Care Center. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Margie was born on October 18, 1925 in Melvin, Texas. Throughout her life she lived in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. She worked many jobs throughout her life including working in the cotton fields, cooking delicious Mexican food in her family’s restaurant, and housekeeping. She loved to get dressed up, loved wearing accessories, and most of all, loved being with family. All who met her, loved her, and she will be missed by all. Margie is survived by her children Bobby and Ynes Velardez of Levelland, TX, LuAnn Gale of Springfield, CO, and Marcia and Colin Elstob of Springfield, CO. She is also survived by her siblings, Manuel and Adela Costilla of Guymon, OK, Vincent and Cathy Costilla of Guymon, OK, and Maria Barrientes of Johnson City, TX, as well as eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Springfield, CO, followed by interment at the Springfield Cemetery.
