Lyman Dick Halderman died in a car accident in Manter Kansas May 29, 2018. He was born May 22, 1925, to Richard “Dick” Halderman and Edna J (Hurlbut) Halderman in Manter Kansas.
Lyman was a proud Army veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
He loved cars, airplanes, and the Yankees.
Lyman worked most of his life as a truck driver. He was recognized by the Governor of Colorado for 6 years and 3 million miles of accident-free driving. He drove for another 30 years and traveled to 48 states and all 5 provinces in Canada.
After he retired he moved to Cottonwood, Arizona with wife Claire. They enjoyed spending time with their friends, were active in their church and delivered meals-on-wheels for over 12 years. They enjoyed traveling; amongst their favorite trips were an Alaskan cruise and a trip to Hawaii to see the USS Arizona. Lyman was finally able to say he had been to all 50 states.
He was preceded in death by his wife Claire, his parents, sisters Jessie Evaline, Eva Belle, Joanne Elizabeth, brother Stanley Ward and his son Lyman (Dean). He will be missed by sister Florence Juanita, his daughters Patty, Sherri (Enoch) Compagnoni and his son Brad; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A military memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28 th at 10:30 MST (11:30 CST), at the Johnson City Cemetery in Johnson Kansas, followed by a luncheon at Springfield West, 680 West 6 th , Springfield, CO at 12:30 MST (1:30 CST). Please send donations in lieu of flowers to the American Legion-Lamar Colorado, American Legion- Johnson Kansas, American Legion Post 48-Walsh, Colorado, or the Baca County Library. Donations can be made through the funeral home.
