With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Larry Ray Walters on March 3, 2025, in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Born on March 7, 1958, in Lamar, Colorado to Johnny Ray and Betty June (nee Lacy) Walters, Larry led a full and meaningful life filled with love, laughter, generosity of spirit, adventures, joy, fabulous sense of humor and a deep commitment to family.
Following his family’s move from Colorado to California in 1966, Larry lived in Sonoma for most of his childhood. He enjoyed playing sports (track and field, football, baseball, basketball) and scouting activities, achieving the level of an Eagle Scout.
After graduating from Sonoma Valley High School, Larry went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis. After graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Army Corps of Engineering and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During his years of service, Larry was deployed to Honduras, earned a Master of Science - MBA degree from Northern Colorado University (his father’s alma mater) and was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Larry married Frances Calden in 1980. Together they raised two children: Kyle Gilbert and Lauren Nicole.
Upon leaving his military service, Larry began a successful career in the Quality Leadership in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and Combination Products Industries with Expertise in Quality Systems, Quality Operations, Quality Planning, Regulatory Operations and Quality Compliance. His strong leadership, dedication, inspiration and drive for excellence led to rich pipelines of products that improved and saved lives around the world.
Larry traveled and lived in many states and countries: Kansas, Illinois, Ohio, Minnesota, Washington State, Pennsylvania Texas, California, Ireland, Japan to name a few.
It was during his assignment in the Dominican Republic that he met the love of his life, Arsenia. Larry and Arsenia married in 2003 and welcomed three children: Matthew Ray, Megan Maria and Madison Nicole.
Larry was the pillar of our family, hosting family reunions, outings, attending milestone events and always helping when he could., Larry loved seeing his children playing sports (basketball, volleyball, etc) playing in the marching band, cooking, especially breakfasts, wine tasting, attending Broadway shows and professional sporting events, camping, raising chickens and getting fresh eggs, gardening, and supporting his family activities. He attended his children’s and grandchildren’s games, band performances, drama production and choir performances. He also loved books, taking the family to the theater, biking, and BBQing for his loved ones. Larry loves watching the sunsets and the sunrises, but above all, he love caring for his family and seeing them happy.
Larry was proceeded in death by his father and is survived by wife Arsenia Walters; his mother, Betty June Walters of Springfield, Colorado; his five children Kyle (Krystyna) Walters of
Peachtree, Georgia, Lauren (Fermin) Mata of Portland, Oregon, Matthew Walters of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Megan and Madison Walters of Ardmore, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Karen (Michael) Dunlap of Modesto, Rhonda (Gary) Rowe of Lakewood, Colorado; two brothers, Daniel Walters of Springfield, Missouri, Gary (Lisa) Walters of Oroville, California; four grandchildren, Milo and Max Mata, Kayla and Melody Walters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was a giver, everyone loved him. He was kind, generous, passionate, hard worker, full of dreams. His love, wisdom, laughter and guidance will be greatly missed but Larry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and loved him.
