Brent Porter was born on March 14th, 1952 in Lamar, Colorado and died on November 10th 2017 in Blanchard, Oklahoma with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest L. Porter and a brother Shawn Leroy Porter. He is survived by his Mother, Zola Gale (Hallock) Porter, Brother Ross Lee Porter & Sister-in-law Kim Porter, his children: Leslie Porter, Jason and Daughter-in-law Jackie Porter, Derek and Daughter-in-law Pam Porter, and Dalton Porter, Grandchildren; Kain, Kasidy, Kaylee, Addison, and Anthony. Niece Jacquelyn Porter, Nephew Austin Porter. Stepson Cutter Huddleston, and stepdaughter Summer Huddleston. Brent grew up in the Springfield, Colorado area. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1970 and later attended Lamar Community College on a Rodeo scholarship. Brent married Hallie “Elaine” Estep in October of 1970 and continued to live in Springfield, Colorado and other areas in Colorado while working the oil fields. Brent and Elaine had two children; Jason and Leslie. Later on, Brent began training racehorses in Raton, New Mexico and met Donna Raper. Brent and Donna were married on February 14, 1980, in Raton, New Mexico. Brent and Donna had two children; Derek Holt and Dalton James. Brent trained racehorses in Raton for several years and traveled to many race tracks, continuing his love of horses. Brent and Donna settled in Purcell, Oklahoma, while Brent would continue his horse career at Remington Park Race Track in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This lifelong career of riding, breaking and training horses ended with a horse accident. After a long recovery of healing, the family later moved to Wellston, Oklahoma where he worked cattle, and then started a new career driving semi-trucks. Brent was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in May of 2013. Brent slowly declined over the next few years and later lost his speech due to a cardiac embolism in July of 2017. His children continued his journey with him until his passing on November 10, 2017, at high noon in Blanchard, Oklahoma. He will be missed by all, his smile, laugh and as Brent would say… “GOTTA HAVE FUN”, “LIVE LIKE YOU AIN’T AFRAID TO DIE” & “ENJOY THE RIDE”
