Kenneth Day was born February 15, 1936 in Springfield, Colorado to Georgia Yeager and Bill Day. He died January 12, 2021 in Southeast Colorado Hospital of COVID-19. He was raised by his stepfather, Everett Freeman on a farm at Andrix, Colorado and graduated from Kim High School in 1954. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years active duty and four years in the reserves. He married Lyla Woodhouse on July 16, 1961, his wife of 59 years, who survives him.
Kenneth is also survived by three children; Darla (David) Strickland of Amarillo, TX; Melissa Noe and Kenney Day (Joan) of Springfield, CO; also survived by four half-sisters; Joan Mertz of Amarillo, TX; Joy Freeman (Frank Kaemingk) of Denver, CO; Jane Trainor of Canon City, CO; and Berniece Rutherford of Penrose, CO; two half-brothers, Mike Day and Jim Day of La Junta, CO; nine grandchildren, one step grandchild, seven great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Kenneth was a dedicated member of Trinity Church in Springfield. A private burial will be held January 15 at the Pritchett Cemetery, Pritchett, Colorado. A celebration of life will be held on a later date at Trinity Church. Donations can be made to Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield.
