Helen Louis Augerote was the fifth child born to William Henry and Ida Franklin Augerote in Satanta Kansas on March 24, 1928. Helen lived 16 years in Satanta Kansas, then was in Larnard Kansas from 16 years of age until 25. She then moved to Liberal Kansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Jerry. Helen and Jerry married in Perryton Texas on November 3, 1952. To this union they had one daughter, Linda Faye, on June 16th, 1956. She became a stay at home mom and wife as her and Jerry raised their daughter, Linda. After their daughter married, Helen worked in the laundry at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Liberal. Her loving husband chauffeured Helen until he fell ill. At that time Helen, obtained her driver’s license for the first time at 55 years old. Helen loved the Lord and she attended the South Church of God in Liberal. In 1988, Helen moved to Springfield where she attended the Assembly of God church and started working at Southeast Colorado Hospital as a housekeeper in the Long Term Care Center. After working there for several years, she retired but kept busy with embroidering which was a lifelong hobby. She also enjoyed making quilts with the Sew and Glo Club in Campo and became one of the Three Musketeers with Eva Buatt and Ellen Myers. Marie Starr joined the group a few years later. They would go to supper two times a week and go to Lamar. Eva always drove and Helen usually rode shotgun, who was tasked with the responsibility of keeping their driver awake. The last 10 years she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. At that time she attending the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Campo with her friend and caregiver, Odessa Grogan. Helen was baptized by Pastor Bob Lenning on September 5, 2015. In October of 2016, she moved to the Long Term Care Center and then into the Alzheimer’s Unit. Helen mourned her husband until the day she passed on February 8, 2018. Their years together were her happiest and she was looking forward to being reunited with him. She was proceeded in death by her Father, Mother, Husband Jerry, Her Brothers, Elwood, Donald, and Myrl Augerote, and her Sister, Lillie Mae Cranston. She is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Leon Hollenback, grandchildren, Heath (Alisa) Hollenback, LeAnn (Steve) Landers, Laura (Matt) Emmons, and 6 great-grandchildren, Alana and Sean Hollenback, Sydney and Trinity Landers, and Jack and Lacey Emmons. The family requests memorial contributions be given to the Southeast Colorado Hospital District (373 East 10th Ave. Springfield, CO 81073) in Helen's memory.
