Helen Ellis Tipton, also known as Goose, age 87, died February 27, 2019, at home in her bed surrounded by her loved ones.
Born December 11, 1931, in Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sue and J.B. Kimbell.
Helen graduated high school in Altus, Oklahoma, where she met and married Charles “Lindy” Ellis. They lived in Altus where Lindy was employed as a butcher and farmed until 1952, when they moved to Baca County, Colorado and where they located northwest of Springfield. There, Lindy and Helen began farming and ranching. To this union were born two children, Helinda Sue, and Ben Wiley.
Helen was a devoted member of the Methodist church since 1953 and participated in club Quevale, and square dancing. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all the activities they participated in.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her father, and mother J.B. and Sue Kimbell, her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Louise Kimbell.
She is survived by her children, Helinda Sue and her husband David Konkel, her son Ben Ellis and his wife Lisa, her seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives, friends, and her dog Mr. Foo Foo.
As a loving mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend, she shall be both mourned and missed.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5 th , 10:00 a.m. at the Springfield United Methodist Church, 901 Colorado St. Burial will follow at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, CO.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests monetary gifts be given to the Springfield United Methodist Church "building fund", PO BOX 193, Springfield, CO, 81087
