Harlin Wayne Nusser, Jr. was born on June 22, 1952 in Walsh, Colorado. He was born to Harlin W Nusser, and Alva “Bebe” (Lakely) Nusser. He passed away on June 26, 2026 at Southeast Colorado Hospital at the age of 74 having just had his birthday with his wife, a son and daughter by his side. Harlin was the only boy of four children; having one older sister, Sharlotte, and one younger sister, Joy, and one half sister, Lori Eslick.

Harlin graduated from Vilas School District in Vilas, Colorado in 1970. He married Nancy Auburger on July 25, 1971 in Boise City, Oklahoma. They shared just short of 55 years together.

Harlin worked a variety of jobs throughout his life including farming; breaking horses; driving trucks; sales; owner of a tire shop with mechanic shop; delivered gas, diesel and LP. He sold subscriptions to High Plains Journal; and escorted oversize loads from the southern Canadian border to the southern border of Texas. In all their travels they never crossed into either Canada or Mexico but enjoyed getting to see the country.

In 1972 Harlin and Nancy welcomed their first child, a son, Preston Wayne; in 1975 their second child, a son, Kelly Don; and in completion of the family in1982 their third child, a daughter, Randi Lea. Harlin was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Harlin didn’t get to meet his first great grandson, Cameron Wayne.

Harlin enjoyed fishing; playing baseball; being a member and officer of the Springfield Jaycees and the Colorado Jaycees; working and welding in his shop; building and learning to use his homemade sawmill; escorting oversize loads; and many more.

Harlin will be missed by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Preston (Sharlene) and Kelly (late Tonya); his daughter, Randi (Jonathan Witt); his grandchildren Bryce Ray, Keyen Thayne, Morgan Esther (Logan Anderson), and Dalton Wayne; his great grandson (Cameron Wayne); his sisters; and his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Harlin is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents (Harlin Nusser and Alva “Bebe” Eslick); sister (Sharlotte); daughter-in-law (Tonya); mother-in-law (Juanita Poteet); twin cousins (Doyle and Dale Nusser); as well as other family and friends.

The family honored Harlin with a private graveside service.
