Gladys Ann Henderson, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Clovis, New Mexico. Born on December 20, 1934 in Campo, Colorado, to the late Blewford D. McAllister and Florence Ann (Bennett) McAllister, Gladys spent most of her life in Springfield. She found joy in butterflies, gardening, and tending to her favorite flowers, which were petunias. Gladys cherished fishing trips with her beloved late husband of over 60 years, Delbert. A devoted member of the Springfield Baptist Chapel, she actively participated in church activities and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in her community. Above all, Gladys treasured spending time with her family and was known for the warm, welcoming smile she always wore.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Henderson; brother, Darrold McAllister; and parents, Blewford and Florence Ann McAllister.
She is survived by her daughter; Gwen (Glen) Hawthorne of Clovis, New Mexico; daughter, Karen (Reece) Field of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Hawthorne and Kara Porter, Christopher (Ariana Sweeney-) Field, Ashley Field; great-grandchild, Reese Porter; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Springfield Cemetery with Bill Bunting officiating. Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel, 265 W. 8th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado.
Flowers are appreciated, and memorials may also be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org ) as well as to the Springfield Baptist Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hawthorne, Christopher Field, Reese Porter, Glen Hawthorne, Reece Field, and Ron Porter.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of BeeHive Homes of Portales and Interim Hospice for loving on our mom. Their care and support during this time has brought comfort and peace to our family. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and unwavering support.
