Gabriella "Gabie" Marie Hastings

Gabriella Hastings was born into this world, on December 4th, 1966, to John Hastings and Martha Castello in the Phillipines. She spent most of her childhood traveling with her family while her father served in the Navy. Gabie had two brothers, Carlos and Tory, and a sister Magda. She started her own family in California with welcoming her oldest son Danny Higgins, followed by Ricky Higgins, and Brittney Higgins. After coming to La Junta, Colorado, it didn't take long for her to find her soul mate and best friend, Monty Mayo. Together they welcomed their daughter Fancy in 1996, and son Hutch in 1998. After a few years of looking for the perfect town to lay their roots, they found themselves in Springfield. Colorado. She would spend the rest of her life there with her youngest kids close by, helping friends, family, and strangers all along the way. To know Gabie, was to love Gabie, and she was loved by many.

Her family was always most important to her, followed by her friends, adventure, and nature. 

Gabie is preceded in death by her parents, younger daughter Fancy, grandson Tyson, sister Magda, and Aunt Sandy. 

She is survived by her children: Danny (Rosy), Ricky (Anie), Hutch, Brittney, and son-in-law Dylan. She will be missed extra by her grandkids whom she took great pride in: Mindy and Angela Higgins, Daneeya Higgins, Owen Spell, and Axel and Abram Cox. She has many other relatives who will hold her memory dearly as well.

Even in her passing, she continues to spread her flame through organ donation and has saved 3 other lives. She departed this world on September 9th, 2026.

Funeral Services will be held on September 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel, 265 W. 8th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery, Highway 160, Springfield, Colorado.
