Freddy Shawn Day, 55, of Walsh, Colorado, unexpectedly departed this life on June 14 th , 2018. Fred was born to Twila Jean (Spencer) Sanders and Donnie Sanders on November 2 nd , 1962, in Wichita, Kansas. He was later adopted by his maternal grandparents, Mildred Lorraine (Kerr) Day and Harold James Day. In his early years, he attended school at Walsh Elementary and Walsh Junior High. Fred graduated from Vilas High School in 1981 and continued his education at ITT receiving an associate electrical engineering degree in 1991.

Fred worked in several industries throughout his life. He was a parts service technician at Cook Oil Company in Walsh, Colorado for many years. In the mid 1980’s, he moved to Castle Rock, Colorado, where he worked as a glazier at several different glass companies, where he made many lifelong friends. Shortly after, Fred moved to Denver where he continued working in the glass industry and began working on his electrical engineering degree. He then transferred to Phoenix, Arizona where he continued his education toward his bachelor’s degree. Fred returned to Walsh in the early 1990’s, where he worked as a construction contractor. When he wasn’t busy fixing homes in the summer, you could find Fred helping friends and neighbors farming and harvesting. For years, he would continue to travel back to the Front Range of Colorado to help his friends with large glass construction projects.

In his early stages of life, Fred developed a passion for baseball and basketball. Every day, you could find Fred, with his friends and younger brother JR, in the backyard playing football, the driveway playing basketball, or the lots across the street playing baseball.  He continued his passion for sports throughout high school and recreational leagues thereafter, and always made himself available to help any child improve their fundamentals in baseball or basketball. As Fred did not have children of his own, he always took time to play with, read to, and care for the children of relatives and friends in the community. This brought great joy to Fred’s life. Fred loved fishing, especially with his niece and nephew, Brinley and Daylen. Among Fred’s other interests, he loved playing poker, reading, history, politics, and studying stock markets. He loved music, his friends and automobiles. Fred treasured history and relics of the past. He also had an appreciation for art work and was a very good artist.
