Donald Duane Turner, affectionately known as Don, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born on October 17, 1944, in Springfield, Colorado, to Harry Turner and his wife.

Don was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Mary Lee Turner, his son, Dusty Turner and brother Ron Turner. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his sister Debra, brother in law Dave; his sister in law Patricia Turner; his friend and companion, Ruthie Schiller; daughter, Staci Horning; son-in-law, Todd Horning; son, Curtis Turner; daughter-in-law, Celi Turner; daughter in law Sherrilyn Lusk; and grandchildren: Codey, Casey (Ashley), Cole, and Cailee Smith; Brian (Sharee)Turner, Lara Turner, and Larissa (Corwin) Coldman; Christopher and Keaton (Brittany) Turner; and Elise (Austin) Bolton; and last, but not least, ten great-grandchildren.

Don grew up on the family farm, where he learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and dedication. After marrying, he began his career as a mechanic at the Chevrolet garage in Springfield, Colorado. He later returned to the farm to work alongside his father, Harry, before branching out to farm independently in Baca County, near Two-Buttes, Colorado. Don transitioned into business in Lamar Colorado, eventually selling his farming operation. In business, Don owned and operated a trucking company and a feed store, and eventually owned and operated his own agricultural insurance from which he retired.

Don was not only a businessman but also an active member of his community. He served a term as mayor of Two-Buttes, contributed to the Walsh School Board for several years, and was a dedicated member of the ASCS board. Don also devoted much of his time to his church, where he was a board member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher.

Outside of work, Don had a deep love for music, particularly traditional country and gospel. He played the guitar and enjoyed singing, often sharing his passion for music with those around him. Don frequently spoke of fishing, though he rarely did it. He was also a collector of antique and toy tractors, a hobby that reflected his connection to the farming life he had always loved and spoke dearly of until his death.

Don's family and friends will forever remember his warm heart, his commitment to his community, and his love for his family. He was a man who lived with integrity, kindness, and a genuine sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew him.
