Dennis L Smith

Dennis Leon Smith of Campo, Colorado was born February 8th, 1954 to Harry and Vonna Smith in Shattuck, Oklahoma. After graduating valedictorian of his class at Arnet in 1973, Dennis married the love of his life, Polletta, on April 23rd, 1976.

Dennis passed away on January 15, 2020, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado at the age of 65.

Dennis experienced a lot in his life. One of his hobbies was racing pigeons with his wife, he also loved to race hotrods, he loved growing a bountiful garden as well as learning all he could about law and the constitution.  In his spare time, Dennis could be found riding his four-wheeler to visit with neighbors and anyone who stopped in at the Campo Café or get the mail. He also enjoyed going to Springfield to visit his wife of over 40 years, Polletta, and buy gifts to send his grandbabies.

Anyone who knew Dennis knew he would do anything to help absolutely anyone whether the assistance was helping fix a flat tire or lifting spirit’s with a joke or quick prank.

He is survived by his wife Polletta Smith of Springfield, Colorado, Son Bruce Smith of Campo, Colorado, Daughter and Son-in-law, Emmaleah and Eric Wait, Grandchildren Robby Wait and Madison Wait all of Havana, Arkansas.  He is also survived by his Sister-in-law Beverly Smith of Harmon, Oklahoma.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Vonna Smith, and his Brother Milton Smith.

The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st, 1:00 p.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services, 265 West 8th Ave. Springfield, CO 81073.

There has been a memorial fund established at Frontier Bank for those who are able to help with the funeral expenses.  The family would greatly appreciate it.
