Bob D Gibson

Bob Dean Gibson, age 86, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at Southeast Colorado Hospital LTC in Springfield, Colorado

He was born September 14, 1933 in Springfield, Colorado to Fred and Mary (Penny) Gibson. Bob was born eighth out of eleven children. He loved Baca county so very much and the community where he lived his whole life. He spent all of his working years in the horse racing industry, racing, riding and training. He named one of the horses he raised and trained “Baca County Kid”.

Bob is preceded in death by Wife Marilyn Jo Fritz Gibson, Parents Fred and Mary Gibson, Brothers Gene, Wayne and Kenneth “Bunker”, Donald, Sisters Ines Brisendine, and Shirley Greenlee.

Bob is survived by sisters Charlene Shaw of Seldon KS, Margaret Wade, Iris Taff, and Larry Gibson all of Springfield, CO. Also survived by Daughters Kathy Houghton of Springfield, Sheila Westphal of Lamar, Dee (John) Ownbey of Springfield, Grandchildren Jamie (Shane) Houghton of Springfield, Jody (Starla) Westphal of Springfield, Christopher (Robyne) Westphal of Springfield, Brody Ownbey of Pueblo and Demi (T’Neil) Magdaleno of Lamar. Great-Grandchildren Justin, Dalton, and Jayci Westphal, Decker Magdaleno, Whittney and Brakelle Westphal, Nash and Nolan Laviolette, Great-Great Grandchild Lane Westphal, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob will be missed by his many friends and family.
