Beverly Ann Blount Gallegos was born on September 30, 1947, making her the youngest and only daughter to Oscar and Juanita Blount. On October 27, 2026, she was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
During her life, Bev lived in many places including Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. However, Springfield, CO is where she always called “home”.
Bev was so creative and talented. She could have given any professional chef a run for their money! Cooking was one of her favorite things to do. During the Christmas season, our kitchen was filled with a huge assortment of homemade cookies and candy. Her own peanut brittle was known far and wide. She didn’t like the recipes she found in magazines, so she created her own.
Let’s not forget her incredible talent for cake decorating. Basic icing on a sheet cake would never do for this lady! She created everything from over-the-top birthday cakes to wedding cakes.
How can we forget her sewing talent? Part of it was out of necessity. Not only did she make school clothes for us, but there were also the special outfits for family pictures and the many pageant gowns. Beverly had a knack for drawing out a gown and then creating it without a pattern.
During her life she had many pets. Mainly stray cats and dogs got to be cared for by her. However, the squirrels in Pueblo had a special place in her heart. It started with her giving a few peanuts to the squirrels in her backyard. That grew into buying huge bags of peanuts and keeping them by the back door. Every day she would put out peanuts for her squirrels. She may not have had her ducks in a row, but she had squirrels and they were everywhere!
What held the biggest place in Beverly’s heart was her family. She loved with a deep pure love. The grandkids could get away with just about anything! Bev loved spending time with them and doing special things for them.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Earl Blount and Doug Blount, daughter Danni Gordon and additional family members and friends. Grieving her passing are her children, Brenda (Jeff) Prose, DJ Wheeler, Patti (Jeff) Jones, her husband Duane Gallegos, his two daughters, Renea (Earl) MacLellan, Lisa (Bill) Dotson, grandchildren Isaiah, Dylan, Mia, Lily, Grace, Bella, Wyatt and many friends.
In honor of Beverly, the family invites those who are able to wear one of her favorite colors, turquoise or teal, to her Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
Services for Bev will be held at Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel, date and time for service will be scheduled soon.
