It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Jo Benton-Gibson, 74, announces her passing after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 6:20 pm. She lived the early part of her life in Robertson County, Tennessee where she attended Ridge Top School. She later moved to Springfield, Colorado in Baca County.

She is preceded in death by an infant daughter; Delores Ann Knight. Her parents; Frank Porter and Ola C. Benton. Her brother; Tommy Benton and his wife Yvonne.

She is survived by her husband; Robert J. Gibson. Her six siblings; Bill and Carol Benton, Bobby and Mary Benton, Doug and Linda Darby, Larry and Judy Brown, David, and Tammy Benton, and Don Benton. Her four children; Jimmy and Belinda Knight, Eddie and Connie Knight, Dean and Rhonda Knight Ross, Johnny and Kelli Knight. Her ten grandchildren; Brock Knight, Andrew Knight, Cameron Sloan, Kelsi Kemp, Megan Goglia, Racheal Knight, Heather Greer, Chelsea Ross, Jerry Knight, and Sarah Knight. Betty is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

Betty will be best remembered for her beautiful smile, homemade chocolate pie, her love for animals, her artistic ability and her drive to live life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Betty chose to be cremated at Maltbie Funeral Services in Springfield, Colorado. She will be remembered through a celebration of life service by friends and family back home in Tennessee at a date not yet determined.
