Betty Joe Carson was born on August 19, 1926, to Charlie P. and Laura Ann Carson in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She passed away at Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield, Colorado with her family at bedside; she was 96 years old.
Betty grew up around Tahlequah, Oklahoma until she met the love of her life Buster Cook. They married on December 24, 1941.
Betty had many occupations in her life which included farming, owning a restaurant/cooking, and numerous occupations. She enjoyed making quilts, doing puzzles, horses, going to casino’s and playing the slot machines, reading, and helping with her grandchildren. Betty will be remembered for her loving kindness and friendship by her family and friends.
Betty was able to live at home until she was 94 years old and then she was placed in Long Term Care Center in Springfield, until she passed. Betty was buried at Springfield Cemetery beside her husband Buster Cook. Our Brother, Johnny’s ashes were buried with her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Buster Cook; Johnny Lee Cook, son; Kathryn Cook, daughter; Baby Boy Cook, son; Patti Cook, daughter in law; Aaron Carrillo, grandson; and Laura Cook Moreno, granddaughter.
Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends; she is survived by four children, Betty Jean Thys (Donald) of Springfield; James P. Cook (Patricia) of Springfield; Linda Carrillo (Joe)of Plains, Kansas; Joseph Michael Cook of Lamar, Colorado. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 47 great and great-great grandchildren.
