Arlin C. Chenoweth was born February 20, 1921, on the Chenoweth Homestead North of Springfield to Ira and Minnie Chenoweth. He grew up in a big family of six boys and six girls. AC, as he was known to his friends, was the 6th child. He and Marion were very close in age and spent a lot of time together. After graduation from Springfield High School in 1941, he and Marion enlisted at the same time. AC went into the Army Air Corp and served in England and France during World II.   When he returned from the war he met and married Edna L. Freeman on March 19th, 1946. To this union were born three children, Theresa, Rene, and Brady. AC started buying land when he returned, to build his family’s farm and ranch. He worked hard on this farm for the rest of his life. He served his community with pride as he was active in the Sherriff’s Posse for 45 years. He also served on the Springfield School board and drove the school bus.   AC was well known and loved by so many people. Many would say he never met a stranger. He had a wicked sense of humor and a gift of gab. Many enjoyed his stories from World War II and his farming and ranching days. He raised his children and grandchildren with a stern hand and a huge heart. He was a true patriarch of the family and he was respected beyond measure. He had a generous way about him that enveloped everyone close to him. He was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand or good advice. He was about kindness, fairness, and loyalty and he taught us all to live the same; a proud man with a very proud family.   AC departed this life on July 14th, 2017, at the age of 96. He is survived by daughters Rene Matheny from Houston, Texas, and Theresa Fraser. Grandsons Darren Matheny, Clay (Dana) Matheny both of Texas, Race (Janet) Chenoweth of Springfield, CO. Grandaughters Lana (Butch) Nicodemus, Jana Oliver (Adrian Padilla) all of Thermopolis, Wy, and Stacy (Tom) Tarrant of Castle Rock, CO, and Yvette Samick, and Donelle Fraser. He is also survived by 6 great grandsons and 10 great grand daughters. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Ira and Minnie Chenoweth, his wife Edna, and his son Brady Chenoweth.
