William "Bill" Eden was born June 24, 1925 in Elkhart, Kansas to Oscar and Lillie Eden. He dedparted this life at the age of 85 in October 11, 2010 at 3:45 a.m. in the Long Term Care Center in Springfield, Colorado where he lived for a few months with his wife, Hazel. Bill married Hazel Lee Beeney on June 11, 1950 at the Burlington Methdist Chruch. They were very proud of celebrating 60 years of marriage this past summer.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lillie Eden, brothers, Gene, Jack, Harold, Burchell, Thomas, Bruce, and James and a sister, Letha, and two daughters, Bobbie Lynn and Yolanda Kay. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, daughter, Sandra (Lyndell) Bryan, sons, William A. Eden, Jr. and John Mark (Cynthia) and his very special girls who he thought of as his daughters, Marsha, Cindy, Gaylene, Connie, and Misty. Also surviving Bill are his brothers, Bob and Oscar and his sister, Alice. Bill was very prouy of his 12 grandkids: Eden, Davina, Tieg, Christian, Rachel, Brian, Amanda, William A. Eden III, Brittany Kay, Joseph, Matthew, Alisse, and three great grandchildren, Makayla, Brennan, and Jasmine as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Bill served in the U. S. Army where he received an honorable discharge. He drove a semi-truck for Wright Motor Line, was the owner of the Springfield Phillip 66 Station, managed the Sprigfield school bus garage, worked as service manager at Key Chevrolet, and was employed as the groundskeeper and maintenance worker at Southeast Colorado Hospital, Long Term Care Ceenter and the Alzheimer's Unit. He loved nothing more than to give his roses to the residents, patients, and staff.
Bill enjoyed life. He loved his family. His greatest wish was to live long enough to see his granddaughters, Brittany Kay and Christian grow up, and he did just that. His hobbies included rock hunting, polishing and cutting, gardening, and growing flowers. It didn't matter what type of seed it was, he loved to grow it, particularly his precious roses. He enjoyed tinkering with and repairing cars and pick-ups; he was never too busy to help someone in need.
One of his most valued moments came in January of 1984 when he rededicated his life to God at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Campo, Colorado. His favorite scripture was Psalms 91 and he never wavered in his walk with the Lord. His home church was the Springfield Assembly of God. Bill's favorite songs to sing were "Oh My Darlin'" and "Do-Tee-Do" and you could find him walking around with his hands behind his back whistling.
He had such a big heart and everyone who met him felt the warmth of his love.
