Audie Francis Wade went to his rest on Saturday, March 13, 2010. He was born the son of James and Sadie Wade on a farm near Tecumseh, Oklahoma on June 8, 1922. He came to Colorado as a young man and joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in France and England during WWII. While on assignment in Portland, Oregon, he met Solange (Sally) Moreau. They were married on February 12, 1944 and when Audie returned from England in 1946, he had a wife and son waiting for him. A second son joined the family in 1947. Audie was involved in a variety of businesses. He was an award winning General Manager of one of the largest Oldsmobile dealerships on the west coast. He also tried his hand at farming in Prowers and Baca counties. Audie was an automobile and mobile home dealer in Southeastern Colorado and Ulysses, Kansas. In 1969, Audie suffered a debilitating heart attack and was forced into early retirement. He spent the majority of his remaining years in Baca County where he was surrounded by many friends and relatives. His will to live and plain stubbornness kept him going all these years. We all know he was eager to move on. We will miss him. Audie was preceded in death by his wife Sally in 2003, and many other family members who are ready to welcome him. He is survived by his only remaining sibling, his sister, Lola Landers of Phoenix, Arizona, his sisters-in-law Anne Wade and Margaret Wade of Springfield, his two sons, Jim (Pam) of Fort Collins, Colorado and Ron (Gail) of Portland, Oregon. His granddaughters, Jennifer, Tara, Heather, and Katy, three great grandchildren, Alexa Solange, Ingrid Marie, and Severin Nyx-Wade, and a huge, loving extended family. The family is extremely grateful for the fine care Audie received while at the LTC facility in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Southeast Colorado LTC.
