Joan Ellen Ballman

Joan Ellen Ballman, 76, passed away January 31, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Joan, the youngest of 10 siblings, was born May 15, 1933 to Harvey Lane and Celia May Hall outside of Two Buttes, Colorado. Joan graduated from high school in Two Buttes in 1951. She met Kenneth Ballman in 1952 and they were united in marriage December 23, 1952. On July 3, 1971, they were blessed with their only daughter, Catherine Ellen. Joan was a joyful homemaker for most of her life. She worked outside the home for several years at the Senior Center Kitchen and Forestry Service in Springfield Colorado before retiring in 1998. Joan was baptized in The Calvary Baptist Church in March 1975 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Joan is survived by her daughter Catherine Wright and son-in-law Paul Wright of Cheyenne, her brother Sam Hall and sister-in-law Dorothy Hall of Arapaho, Oklahoma, brother John Hall of Elkhart Kansas, many cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Erma, Mary, and Lora, and her brothers, Willie, Harry, Harvey, and Jim. For many years of her life, Joan especially enjoyed cooking, baking special treats for friends and her daughter, reading, playing dominoes and bingo, collecting knick/knacks and sentimental items, looking for treasures at garage sales, and spending time with family and friends. She always had such a kind-heart and gentle spirit about her. Joan will be remembered as a very loving, caring, and devoted mother, sister and friend. Graveside Memorial Services were held on February 6 at 1:00p.m. at the cemetery in Two Buttes, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
