B.T. Frost was born July 27, 1931, in Patt, Colorado, Las Animas County, to Hazel Virginia Mort and Tim Fount Frost. B.T. died April 3, 2017, in Springfield, Colorado at the age of 85. B.T. Frost always wanted to be a cowboy. He began this adventure at a very young age. At 6 years of age, he had already been bucked off of a horse named Sundown; twice. B.T. graduated from Kim High school in 1950. He rodeoed for the next 2 years. B.T. married Shirley Hollingsworth on December 19, 1952. At this time he quit rodeo to take care of his dad and two brothers and began ranching. In 1957 B.T., his family, his Dad and 3 brothers moved to Utah and started the Frost Brothers Ranch. B.T. and Shirley had 4 children Gail, Tim, Cary (Scarlett), and Penny. In 1975 B.T.’s family moved to California to manage a cattle ranch. In 1977 the ranch was sold; at this time B.T. started working for the Wild Horse & Burro Program. B.T. received many awards for his achievements and gathered thousands upon thousands of wild horses and burros. B.T. retired in 2006 after 29 years of faithful service. On June 6, 2009, his beloved wife Shirley of 56 years passed away. In 2010 B.T. moved to Springfield CO, and on July 12, 2010, B.T. married long- time friend, Mary Walker. B.T. is preceded in death by his parents Tim and Hazel Frost, Wife Shirley, Brother Joe and Sister-in-law Lucille, Brother Jim Frost, Sister Nimi-Lee, Daughter-in-law Joyce Frost and Nephew Lane Frost. B.T. is survived by Wife Mary, Children Gail Frost, Tim Frost, Cary (Scarlett) Frost, and Penny Moser, as well as 10 Grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived are Brothers Clyde (Elsie) Frost, Sister Audrey (Steve) Benson, Sister-in-Law Arlene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be given to the Springfield United Methodist Church PO Box 193, Springfield, CO 814073.
