Richard George Montgomery was taken from us at the age of 68 on Saturday, February 4, 2017 following a tragic accident. He was born on December 15, 1948 in Syracuse, Kansas. He was the son of Hubert Montgomery and Norma Garrison. Rick graduated from high school in Pritchett, Colorado. Shortly following graduation Rick entered the United States Amy. Rick served as an E4 and a sniper during the Vietnam War. During Rick's service to his country he was injured as a result of stepping on a mine. Rick was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Devise, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. After Rick left the Army he did a lot of things including farming, ranching and was head mechanic at Ford Motor Company and later owned his own garage where he served the Pritchett community for many years. Later he went in to carpentry and started his own construction business before finally retiring. Rick enjoyed the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved his family and was quite the jokester. Rick was a hard working man that sacrificed many things and much time to make a great life for his family. Richard is survived by his son, Ricky; his daughters, Amber and Nicole; a step daughter, Dacia; 2 daughters from previous marriages, Sheri Dawn and Christy; his bother, Larry (Denise) of Colorado Springs; his sister, Linda (Jimmy) of Pritchett, Colorado and 6 grandchildren whom he absolutely adored; Mikayla, Timber, Jacob, Maddie, Coltin and Dante.
