Wanda Marie (Chapman) Ralstin was born on June 3, 1937 at 248 East 10th Street in Springfield, Colorado. She died on March 9, 2009 at the Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield at the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 6 days. Wanda was the first of two children born to Clarence Benjamin and Lydia Marie (Goltl) Chapman. She grew up in a loving household, which provided the foundation for a special and mutually sustaining relationship with her parents that continued throughout their lives. Wanda completed grades 1-12 in the Springfield school system. During her high school years, she was a member of the Pep Club and a flag twirler with the marching band. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1955. While in high school, Wanda met James Freeman Ralstin. They dated and subsequently married on February 5, 1956. The newlyweds made their home in Springfield. In the succeeding years, this union produced four sons: Bruce Wayne, Steven Dewayne, William Douglas and Gary Michael. Wanda was a devoted mother, completely dedicated to rearing her sons even though circumstances often proved challenging. When her sons participated in sports, she rarely missed attending a game, whether it was at home or away. Wanda was fortunate with close friends whose companionship she enjoyed and greatly appreciated. She was also fortunate to have a loyal group of relatives who frequently visited and contacted her. Her grandchildren, with whom she lovingly bonded, were a particular delight in her life. While Wanda worked at several jobs over the years, the one that brought her the greatest happiness was working in the long-term care facility at the hospital where her penchant for administering to others was appreciated by those in need of such care. Wanda got an early start in Christian life by attending Sunday school at the First Baptist Church during her pre-school years. In later years, she resumed participation in church activities. Wanda rededicated her life to God as evidenced by her baptism on February 6, 2000. Both parents preceded Wanda in death. All four sons and her brother, Robert, survive her. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and relatives. Surely, her after-life will provide the happiness she so certainly deserves.
