Laveta Darlene Sargent

Laveta Darlene Callihan was born May 3, 1917 in Stonington, CO to Gilbert and Belle Callihan. She departed her earthly life May 29, 2009 in Mesa, AZ She grew up and attended school in Baca County Colorado, graduating from Vilas High School in 1936. Darlene was married to Judson Parker August 8, 1937 in Delta, Colorado and was blessed with three children; Winston, Kent and Marcia. She was married to Bob Sargent November 10, 1956 and was blessed with another daughter, Susan. She raised her family and worked in Colorado and Kansas until retiring to Mesa, Arizona in 1992. She was active in the Methodist Church, was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and Club of the Year in Springfield, Colorado. In her later years she attended the Lutheran Church. Darlene was many things to many people in different situations. She was a kind, caring, loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She touched our hearts, warmed our souls and brought joy to those around her. She married, worked, mothered, gave, took, tried, failed, loved, lost, despaired, triumphed and she is now rejoicing in her heavenly home. She was affectionately called Granny by her grandchildren and great greanchildren. She is survived by children, Winston (Judy) Parker of Jacksonville, FL; Marcia (Sam) Lee of Manitou Springs, CO; and Susan Wilson of Mesa, AZ.
