Emma L Trekell

Emma Lou Trekell, 79, died Saturday, June 25th at the Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield following an 18 month battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Erlin Raymond. Emma is survived by their five children and their spouses, Rebecca Lynne, of the home, Cheryl Ann (Mark) of Springfield, Eric William (Pavel) of Seattle, WA, Erlin Raymond Jr. (Debra) of Cañon City and Louie Faron (Marcia) of Indian Mound, TN, as well as five grandchildren and five great-granddaughters. Emma was born on July 17, 1936, in Enid, OK to Louie and Louise (Shiplett) Havill and after the early death of an elder sister, was raised in California and Oklahoma as an only child. She and Erlin married on July 18, 1952, in Pawnee OK. Emma was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and loved attending church camps around the country. Emma was also very involved with family reunions for both her family and Erlin’s. They hosted a number of reunions for both families here in Springfield. Emma was also involved in several community activities over the years. She was a founding member of the Baca Little Theatre and represented the group in the Springfield Chamber of Commerce for many years. She was also very involved with the Springfield Equinox festivals, and along with Erlin was a regular in serving at the Baca County Fair and Rodeo B-B-Q. The family welcomes memorial donations to either the Baca County Cancer Travel Fund or the American Cancer Society. Checks for the Travel Fund can be made out to the Southeast Colorado Hospital District, with “Cancer Travel Fund” noted on the memo line and mailed to or dropped off at SECHD Home Health, 210 E. Tenth Ave., Springfield, CO 81073. Donations can also be given through the funeral home.
