Dale Lee Huffman went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2009. Dale was born to Virgil Loyd (Shorty) Huffman and Dorthea Dean (Mayo) Huffman on December 6, 1941. Dale attended Pritchett schools where he graduated with the class of 1961. On June 16, 1961 Dale married Patricia Irene Broce in Boise City, Oklahoma. After the wedding, Dale and Irene moved to Pritchett and Dale worked at a gas station. Wanting to try his hand at construction, Dale and Irene moved to Loveland, Colorado and he began a construction job. Almost certain that they would starve and he would never like it; they returned to Boise City, Oklahoma where Dale went to work for Bartlett Elevator. Dale knew his love was working on a ranch so he went to work for Charles and Mae Tally on a ranch northwest of Pritchett. Not yet having any children of their own, they spent tons of special times with nieces and nephews. Dale always loving the kids and wanting to do things with them he treated them all as his own. After living on the Tally place for a couple of years, Dale decided to go to work for Roy and Mable Eickleberry. It was then that they had the joy of two children joining them in life. A son, Gregory Dale Huffman and a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Huffman. Those children became the highlight of his life. They moved to Kenton, Oklahoma and worked for Jack Bradley. Busy making a little cowboy out of his new son Greg, he continued to live the life of a rancher. Dale later took a job on the Burghart Ranch northwest of Pritchett and he and Irene raised their kids on the ranch for about 16 years. He spent all his extra time helping neighboring ranchers, teaching his kids the country way of living; a life that he loved with family, horses, windmills, cows, and enjoying his kids being in 4-H. Many loaves of bread were eaten while Sheryl was practicing for the fair. There were even a few memories of swimming in the creek. In 1985 the ranch sold and Dale then moved his family to town where they bought a house and he went to work for the county. Dale continued to work on the county as a maintainer operator clear until the time of his death. Dale was known for many stories that he loved to tell, and anyone who knew him, knew he loved the PBR. He could tell you all the riders names, and who was injured and who was winning. Dale loved to help kids and never turned his back on anyone needing help. He loved his grandchildren and supported them in all their 4-H adventures and followed them to all their sporting events. His funny stories, funny advice, and his funny way of making you feel like you could accomplish anything will surely be missed. His biggest story ever was how he received his very first speeding ticket at the age of 67 years. He sure wanted to argue about the ticket but decided not to. Dale is preceded in death by both parents; his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Loretta Broce; his youngest brother, Darrell Dean Huffman; half brother, James Ricky Adams; and his nephew, Kelley Eugene Broce. His is survived by his wife, Irene Huffman of the family home; son, Greg (Eden) Huffman; daughter, Sheryl (Waylon) Hoeffner; four grandchildren, MaKayla and Brennon Huffman, Keshian and Kidryn Hoeffner. One sister, Barbara (Gene) Broce and their family; brother, Myrlin (Cotton) Huffman and family; half brother, Mickey Adams and family; half sister, Tonia Anderson and family; half sister, Bonnie Montgomery and family; many nieces and nephews who always knew they were special to him, and many great nieces and nephews he never forgot. Dale loved life and would want all to celebrate his life. He learned to love the Lord and was a true giver to his community, friends and family. He would want all of you to remember the stories and pass them on; and most of all he trusted you enough to leave his wife, kids, grandkids and other family members behind knowing that the friends he has made and his Lord would help them get through the grief of his loss. We love you and you will forever be missed.
