Frances "Betty" Elizabeth Hartley

Frances Elizabeth (Betty) (Watkins) Hartley 83 of Campo, Colo., went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 30, 2016, from the Southeast Colorado Hospital. Betty was born on October 3, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of five children to Reverend Joseph Watkins and Ruth Watkins. Betty married the love of her life, Arnold. Hartley July 24, 1954 at the Friends church in Upland, Ind. To this union was born: Penny (James) Dunn of Las Animas Colo., Nicholas (Kathy) Hartley of Spring Hill Tenn., and Tamara (Blas) Torrez of Hugo Colo. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. Her many hobbies included: reading, sewing, gardening, crocheting, to name a few. She did not know a stranger. Her favorite food was spaghetti. She doted on her 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. All her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart as well. Betty was preceded in death by: her brother Jonathan (1948), her father Joseph Watkins (1982), her mother Ruth Watkins (1997), her sister Ruth E. Enns (2012), and her son Nicholas Hartley (2015). She is survived by her husband Arnold (Sonny) of Campo, daughters: Penny (James) Dunn of Las Animas, Colo.; and Tammy (Blas) Torrez of Hugo, Colo., 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, sister Florence Sabanski of Marion, Ind., and brother Joseph Watkins of Sun City, Ariz. There will be a memorial service at the Springfield Friends Church, May 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial donations to be made to the: Southeast Colorado Hospital, Springfield, Colo. Betty will be greatly missed. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Southeast Colorado Hospital at 373 East 10th Ave. Springfield, CO 81073 or by way of the funeral home.
