Guerrero Oscar Escobar was born March 4, 1954 to Casamira Escobar in Juarez, Mexico. The family moved to Barlett, Colorado when he was about 4 years old. Later the family moved to Springfield, Colorado where he attended school. He played sports in high school and his favorite was football. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1973. Soon after high school he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad. He worked for the railroad for thirty years. He had to retire at the age of forty-eight due to health problems. He had two sons, Guerrero Oscar Jr. (O.J.) born 1980 and Andrew Javier born 1983. These boys were his pride and joy. In 2005 he moved to Guymon to be close to his sons. While there he did multiple jobs as well as donating his time to meals on wheels. His favorite pastimes were driving around with his dog Chico, playing games, bowling and dancing. He was quite a dancer. He left this world on December 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Antonino Escobar Sr., Grandmother Josefina Sanchez, mother Casamira Escobar, uncles Antonino Escobar, Jr. and Teyo Escobar and sister Socorro Escobar. He is survived by his sons, O.J. and Andrew, brothers Manuel Escobar, Joe (Viola) Escobar, sisters Luz (Jim) Hargis, Lydia (Armando) Burciaga and Lupe Jimenez, along with many nieces and nephews. Oscar will be greatly missed by his family and friends. There will be a 24 hour viewing available at Maltbie Funeral Services from 10am on Friday till 10am on Saturday. All family and friends are welcome. A memorial fund has been established at the People’s Credit Union in Springfield CO for those who wish to express their sympathy.
