Douglas Leon Christie "The Moon Man", 61, of Springfield was born on December 26, 1947 in Lamar, Colorado to Raymond and Thelma (Gorges) Christie. He passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009 at his home in Springfield, Colorado.
Doug grew up in Springfield and attended Springfield Schools graduating with the class of 1966. He joined the Air Force after graduation. During his tour in the Air Force, he met Portia (Pat) Leigh Croff. They were united in marriage on December 19, 1969. Doug and Pat returned to Springfield after his service ended. To this union they had four children, Lynna, Raymond, Jenni, and Adora Lisa. They lived in Springfield, Elkhart, Kansas; Sublette, Kansas; Guymon, Oklahoma and finaly back in Springfield. Doug worked in the oilfield most of his life. He started his Moon Man careet in 1986. He was also well known for his Haunted Halloween on Maple Street in Guymon.
Doug is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jess and Nancy Christie; maternal grandparents, Vera and Elmer Gorges; Granddaughter, Candis Nakole Forman; Uncles, Jess, Jr., Alvin, Wendell, and Mickey Christie; Aunts, Patty Hume and Rosetta Green.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pat Christie; daughter, Lynna Abrams of Springfield; granddaughters, Blakely and Savana; son, Raymond (Amanda) Christie of Guymon, Oklahoma; daughter, Jenni (Robert) Forman of Waukomis, Oklahoma; grandchildren Brenton, Lacie and Kaleigh; daughter, Adora Lisa (Brad) Viner of Campo, Colorado; grandchildren, Chelcy and William Douglas; parents, Raymond and Thelma Christie of Springfield; brother, Danny (Lana) Christie of
Trinidad, Colorado; nephew, Troy Christie and great neice, Caitlyn of Guymon, Oklahoma; nephew, Shannon (Paula) Christie of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; grandchildren Christopher, Dalton, Hunter, and Dakota; mother-in-law, Lenna (V.Y.) of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; brothers-in-law, Chuck Croff of Lubbock, Texas; Jim Cross of Minnesota; and Rusty Mauldin of Florida; aunts, uncles and cousins.
On September 15, 2007 he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Doug dearly loved his kids and grandkids. He also loved to please people. Two of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.
