Marshall Lee Fulbright was born August 26, 1923 in La Junta CO to Theodore Fulbright and Daisy Chandler Fulbright. Marshall’s parents both came to the Kim country with their parents to homestead. Marshall attended Plum Valley School and Kim Schools graduating from Kim High School in 1941. Marshall went to Santa Fe New Mexico shortly after graduating to attend welding trade school so he could get a job in a shipyard. This was interrupted by the “Call to Service” for his country. Marshal attended basic training at Ft. Hood Texas and later was deployed by ship to Japan where he served as a clerk and typist. Upon discharge he returned to Kim to pursue a farm and ranch career. On May 25, 1947 he married Frances Goodrich in Santa Fe NM. To this union were born Connie in 1949, Carl in 1951, Lee in 1962, and in 1968 Ellie Mae joined the family through adoption. After 39 years of marriage, in November of 1986, Marshall’s wife Frances passed away. On July 28, 1987 Marshall married his current wife Nadine Badgley and they resided in Springfield CO. He continued to farm and ranch to some degree for the rest of his life. For many years he vaccinated heifers in Eastern Las Animas County for Brucilliosus under Vet Piano of Aguilar. During his lifetime he belonged to various organizations including: Young Farmers, Lions Club of Kim, Colorado Cattleman’s Association, 50 yr Mason, Las Animas Co Agricultural Committee, Kim School Board, Kim Mutual Telephone Association, Branson Trinchera Soil Conservation District, VFW honor guard at funerals, as well as being one of the founders and a lifelong member of the Kim Baptist Church. Marshall is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Daisy, one sister Darla Jay, first wife Frances and an infant daughter. Marshall is survived by his wife Nadine Fulbright of Springfield, Children Connie (Ed) Martinez of Denver, Carl (Judy) Fulbright of Pueblo, Lee Fulbright of Kim and Ellie Mae Fulbright of Thornton. Grandchildren include Bret & Melissa Bernal and their children Samantha, Adam & Grayson, Nikki Bernal, Chris & Jodi Fulbright and their children Aspen, Aliya, and Aria, Scott & Crystal Fulbright and their son Linus, and Heather & Justin Rider and son Liam. He also is survived by step daughter Norma Jean (Mike) Clifton, step grandson Michael & Amy Clifton their children Abbey, Caleb, Mason and Molly Ann, and step grandson Justin Clifton. Also left to mourn his passing are his 3 sisters, Pauline Fisher of Ohio, Lola Jean Goodrich of Texas, and Viola Winters of La Junta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Marshall Fulbright were held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Maltbie Funeral Services in Springfield, CO at 2:00 pm. Interment was held at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta, CO Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society via their website at www.cancer.org in memory of Marshall, or you may make your contributions through Maltbie Funeral Services.
