Alice Georgia (Haddox) Ice passed away October 13, 2008 at Southeast Colorado Long Term Care Center in Springfield, CO; at the age of 89, where she spent the last months of her life.
Alice was born to Jesse Adams and Ellen Grace (Chase) Haddox on April 4, 1919 in Plains, Kansas. She was raised in the canyons and cedars in southeastern Colorado. She married Joseph (Joe) Leonard Ice and they spent 69 years together.
Alice spent her life working beside her husband on ranches and farms in Baca and Las Animas counties. Alice was a homemaker, keeping her house in order as she was a good seamstress and an excellent cook. Three children were born to the union of Joe and Alice Ice; Lillian B. (Wiley) Rita K. (Barker) (Eckerdt), and Joe Ice.
Alice is survived by three children Lillian (Stanley) Wiley of Bayfield, Colorado, Rita (Vernon) Eckerdt of Pritchett, Colorado, and Joe (Melinda) Ice of Ignacio, Colorado; five Grand children, Elaine (Bruce) Monger; Larry (Evette) Wiley, Tina Davis, Penny Wells, and Rodney (Brenda) Barker; 14 Great-grand children; and 9 Great-great-grand children; plus numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ice; two grandson’s Kelly Joe Wiley and Rusty W. Barker; eleven Brother’s and Sister’s .
Alice’s Life Celebration will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 at Rich Memorial Chapel, Springfield, CO.
