James Orville Rider was born August 4, 1916 at Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Clyde and Cora Rider.  He went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2008.  Orville (as what most people called him) had very little formal education as he had to work to help support his family. In November 1942, Orville enlisted in the United States Army.  He served with First Battalion, 28th Infantry, 8th Division in Europe.  He was a truck driver and ammunition bearer.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Battle of Breast, he was awarded EAME Theatre Service Medal, with 4 bronze stars, good conduct medal, and The Medal of Jubilee of Liberty.  He was very proud of the service he gave this nation. On February 15, 1946, Orville married Belva Brodrick at Sayre, Oklahoma.  Orville loved to tell how they met and were married.  They then moved to Campo, CO where Orville worked for a local farmer and with his dad before purchasing his own farm.  In 1947 he purchased land southwest of Campo and lived there until 1979.  On July 7, 1952, a son was born, Ricky James Rider.  In 1960, another son came along, Arnold Devonn Rider and in 1994 he welcomed his beautiful daughter-in-law, Kimberly Kay Ready into the family. After selling the farm, they moved to Springfield where they resided until Belva's death.  During this time, he worked for several local farmers.  He worked for Bob Kirkendall the most.  He also worked for Francis Holcomb digging ditches, setting up stock tanks, and pulling wells.  He was a charter member of the Campo Assembly of God Church.  He loved to garden and took special pride in his fruit trees.  He liked to joke around.  One Halloween he dressed up as a woman.  On the way to the church Halloween party, he stopped to get gas.  He got out with his purse.  It almost embarrassed Rick to death.  Work was his hobby but he did enjoy hunting and fishing when he had the time.He is survived by two sons, Rick of Colorado Springs and Devonn (wife Kim) of Las Animas, Colorado, two brothers, Bob of Tecumseh, OK and Noble of Campo, Co. and two sisters, Edna Barlow of Canon City, CO and Doris Brodrick of Shawnee, OK and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.  Although he will be greatly missed, we rest assured knowing that he has gone to be with the Lord and his wife of 62 years.
