At the end of each day as she rests from her labors, a woman should ask herself “Did I spread cheer to my coworkers? Did I wave and smile at my neighbors?” “Did I make my children proud? Was I an honorable, loving wife?” Ever a selfless soul, this is how Dorothy Thompson lived her life.
The kindness in her heart was not something you could imitate. Never said anything she had to apologize for. No bitterness, nor hate.
Dorothy’s calm manner and sweet nature are what we all remember most; no one was a stranger, she was an amazing host.
She could put a whole week’s leftovers into one scrumptious pot. She must have learned this helping raise her siblings, because believe me, there are A LOT.
Dorothy always had a meal for any guests who came to her home. She opened her doors to some young lost souls, then loved and nurtured them as her own.
This hard working mother could cook and clean with class and flair. She would stop any task in a heartbeat if you asked her to cut your hair.
A stand in hairdresser was one of Dorothy’s many labors. She groomed countless family friends, brothers, sisters, kids and neighbors.
Dorothy is fondly remembered as being gullible and silly. For example if she thought something was “cool”, she may mistakenly refer to it as “chilly.”
She would believe anything you told her, a trusting soul was she. She couldn’t tell a lie, so she expected the same of you and me.
Dorothy’s family was her universe, the earth wind and sky. Extremely proud of each one’s accomplishments, they were the apple of her eye.
Our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother worked her fingers to the bone. God needed another angel to look over her large family, and so he called her home.
