Evelyn Colleen Mason was born November 12th, 1947 in Siloam Springs Arkansas and departed this life on May 27th, 2014. Colleen was an excellent cook, having worked at the Springfield School Lunchroom as the Head Cook for a number of years and operating her own cake decorating business. She also worked as a beautician at Carol’s Curls for 31 years and loved visiting with the many customers that came through her chair. However, what Colleen will most be remembered for was her ability to live out her Christian faith by serving her family and neighbors and for her musical talents. Colleen helped organize many community events, including the Old Settlers Picnic and a Kitchen Band which would play at nursing care facilities and events all over the Southeast Colorado region. She worked tirelessly at the Springfield Church of God serving in nearly every capacity from janitor to Church Chairman. She was named Person of the Year for her volunteer efforts. Colleen was a talented musician who loved to sing and play the piano/organ at church and in the community. Colleen enjoyed spending time her family and with her church family whenever she could. Preceding her in death are her parents, Mike and Dorothy Hollenback and her sister Edna Mae Bressler. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Burrell Mason; Daughter Colette (Jeremy) West; Three grandchildren: Colista, Mason and Jonah West all of LaSalle, Colorado and one sister- Carol Hollenback of Springfield, Colorado and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and the many friends who knew her.
