Lena Cordelia Thyfault Briles of Pritchett Colorado died in her home November 26, 2013.
Lena was born to Arthur and Jessie Thyfault on October 31, 1934 in Pritchett, Colorado. One of her early memories was the moving of her house from Pritchett out to the family homestead. She and her mother rode in the house as it was moved four miles out to the farm. Lena was a student for twelve years at the Pritchett School and graduated in 1952. She met her future husband, Elmer when she was still in school. Right after she graduated they married and lived in Pritchett for a short time until Elmer joined the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force they lived in Amarillo, TX, then Albuquerque, New Mexico. After living in New Mexico for four years they moved to Los Angeles, California where their son Arthur was born. Elmer had a job opportunity with United Airlines, where he worked for 33 years, spending the last 30 years in Aurora, Colorado. After retirement from United Airlines Lena and Elmer moved back to Baca County and built a home on her family’s farm where they have lived for the past 15 years.
Lena leaves behind her loving husband, Elmer A. Briles, her son Arthur E. Briles and daughter-in-law Lonnie F. Briles, her grandson Geoffrey A. Briles, her sister Loretta Bradburn and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
