Kenneth Gradon Nidey was born on November 13, 1922 in Baca County, Colorado to Wallace and Hazel (Orndorff) Nidey. He departed this life on May 4, 2013 at the age of 90. Kenneth is survived by his wife Hazel Ruth of Springfield Colorado and their three sons; Paul Gradon Nidey of Springfield, David Lynn Nidey of Middleburg, New York, and Larry Wallace Nidey and wife Wanda, 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren all of Amarillo, Texas He is also survived by one brother James (Millie) Nidey and one sister Terry Jean Wallace all of Springfield Colorado, and by many nephews, nieces, family and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Paul, Keith, Russell and Thomas, as well as 3 sisters Cora May Mayhan, Mary Ann LeValley, and an infant sister AnnaBelle. Kenneth and Hazel Ruth were married on November 19, 1943 at the home of her parents, Rolin and Lillian Wallace. Kenneth served in the Marine Corps from March of 1944 until February of 1946. His basic training was at Camp Pendleton in California and he was sent immediately to Iwo Jima. He was later wounded and received the Purple Heart. His life’s work was farming and trucking, and the last 30 years he operated KEN’S FARM SUPPLY, dealing in used farm equipment. Kenneth was baptized into Christ early in his life and lived a dedicated life. He was a loving, gentle man who never said an unkind word about anyone. He quietly helped many people as long as he was able. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Sandy Soil Church of Christ by way of Maltbie Funeral Services.
