Ethel Faye (Doyle) Amrine, 88, departed this life for her heavenly home on February 11, 2013. Ethel Faye Doyle was born August 6, 1924 in Liberal Kansas to Clarence David and Jane (Sheets) Doyle. The Doyle family moved several places. The first place was in Texas where the family worked in farming cotton. Later the Doyle family moved to Elkhart, Kansas where Ethel‘s Dad worked at a garage as a mechanic. After Elkhart, Kansas the Doyle family moved to the Lycan Community in Colorado for 7 years and from there they moved to Two Buttes, CO about ½ mile south of town. Ethel attended school in Two Buttes for several years. Next the Doyle family moved to 1 ½ miles south of Vilas, Colorado. There Ethel’s Father started farming, she attended school, and she met her first Husband Vernon Amrine. Ethel and Vernon Amrine married February 9, 1942. To this union 6 children were born; Jeanette, Vernon Jr., Danny, Michael, Diana, and Patricia. While living in Springfield Ethel did her part in making a living for her family. First she worked for several years at the Riley Department store in the 1960’s. Later Ethel started working at Traders Thriftway Grocery Store as a full time cashier and later part time. Ethel worked 33 years at the Traders Thriftway, retiring October of 2007. Ethel was a wonderful mother showing a loving and understanding attitude with all her children. She was the rock of our family and our security. She was always willing to help any of us and our children. Ethel’s husband Vernon Amrine passed away December 10, 1971. A few years later, Ethel married Charles Amrine gaining 3 step children Clifford, Barbara, and Jerry. They moved to California living there for 7 years. While married they were affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1980 they moved back to Springfield. Ethel was the most supporting and loving wife. She was their friend and always made their life happy and exciting. July 15, 2000 Charles Amrine passed away. Ethel was a great cook, producing some of our family’s favorite dishes. She found joy in good food and family around her table. Her favorite times were the holiday dinners that she spent with her children and friends. She was an avid card player, enjoying many hours of cards with friends and family. Ethel was tickled when she won her last Phase 9 game. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Jane Doyle, two husbands Vernon Amrine and Charles Amrine, Daughter Jeanette and four brothers John, Jesse, Chet, and Clarence, as well as one sister Cora who died in infancy. She is survived by her children Vernon (Eileen) Amrine of Colorado Springs CO, Danny Amrine of Springfield CO, Mike Amrine of Liberal Kansas, Diana Sylvester (Doug Stolebarger) of Springfield CO, Patty (Tony) Tailleur of Grand Junction CO, 3 step-children Clifford, Barbara, and Jerry and their families, as well as 13 grandchildren, 28 great -grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 3 Sisters-in-law Margie Van Dyke; Luetta (Jerry) Green; Grace Doyle of Lamar CO; and 1 Brother-in-law, Ronald (Cindy)Amrine of Garden City Kansas. Ethel is the last one of the Clarence and Jane Doyle family.
