Charlotte Homsher, 66, died at Solace Hospice Care in Ashville, North Carolina. She was born in Lamar Colorado on July 25, 1946. In 1968 Charlotte received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder and taught art both in New York and Ashville, North Carolina public schools. Charlotte was always involved in some creative activity: drawing, painting, ceramics or writing.
She lived for 22 years in a historical home in the Montford area of Ashville, close to the botanic gardens. She took advantage of programs to learn about the plants of the area. She spent a lot of time hiking and appreciating the flowers, trees, and birds.
After retiring from the French Broad Food Coop, she moved to her cottage in the woods south of Black Mountain where she continued her writing and nature exploration. Her inspiration came from her surroundings. Among her literary works are a 3 act play and a creative non-fiction book on mystical nature. Charlotte sang nature inspired songs at local churches and preformed several one woman shows of original songs, poetry and stories. She also lectured and read from her book about Breast Cancer.
Charlotte is survived by her son Daniel Robert Olson of Black Mountain, North Carolina, her parents Herb and Lucile Homsher of Springfield Colorado, her sister Kathie Mann of Friendswood Texas, her brother Scott Homsher of Englewood Colorado and many dear relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held in Charlotte’s honor in Black Mountain, North Carolina and another at the United Methodist Church in Springfield Colorado. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
